What NFL team will Jordan Shipley and Colt McCoy be playing on?
Okay, so I am definitely a Texas fan andI know Colt will be going NFL and hopefully Jordan, too. What teams are they planning on going to? And are they going to be playing the same positions, too? I know Colt probably won’t since he’ll be a rookie, but what about Jordan Shipley? And please don’t give answers like “they suck and they’ll never make it to NFL” because I know they will if they want.
You’ll just have to wait for the draft to find out. And why wouldn’t they play the same positions in the NFL as at Texas? Do you believe that McCoy will be a linebacker?

McCoy is pretty fragile so i don’t see him being a high draft choice or a starter in the NFL. Shipley, however will be a star in the NFL within a few years. He reminds me of wes welker. It’s impossible to say what team they go to though as the draft is based on which NFL teams have the worst record and what positions those teams need. If a team drafting in the first round needs a receiver than Shipley will be one of the first taken. McCoy will probably not be drafted in the first couple rounds. Someone will pick him up for sure, but who that someone is is impossible to say. Those teams will not draft him with their first selection though.
Both McCoy and Sipley played for good college teams but the pros are the crem de la crem. All players in the pros are top notch and if McCoy and Shipley are drafted by losing or mediocore pro teams they will play down to their potential. Remember there is no “I’ in Team.
Hard to say. Shipley will probably go around the 2nd round to a team that needs a slot receiver to play a kind of Wes Welker role.
Colt McCoy will go to a team around the late 2nd-3rd round that doesn’t have any glaring needs and can gamble on a long term project.
The main thing that worries me about McCoy is his arm strength. You don’t need a rocket arm to succeed in the NFL, but if you can’t put pressure on secondaries and stretch defenses you need to have off the charts football IQ, elite accuracy and most importantly, experience.
Colt may have the accuracy, even though I’m not convinced that he has elite accuracy just because he completes 70% of his passes. The vast majority of the passes he makes are on screens, slants, drags and other short-intermediates routes, and he still had THREE TIMES the picks that Jimmy Clausen had, and Clausen was basically forced to sling it deep all game every game becuase he was usually playing from behind.
If he ever becomes a starting NFL QB it won’t be before he’s had a few years to sit and get himself acclimated to the speed of the NFL and absorb an NFL playbook, and even then his top potential is only comparable to a Jeff Garcia or athletic Chad Pennington. If you draft a QB in the top 2 rounds he should have the raw physical ability to be a top QB, not a dink and dunk game manager.
