you gotta start from the bottom and get some coaching experience at a high school or something and then go to institution and then on to the pros if your excellent enough. or be a retired player of the NFL
Knowledge of the game, contacting people.
Most started off as actual players, some didn’t.
yes it is surpass to start off in institution, or even futher down the latter then that, charlie weis was a high school coach and now he has 3 rings and is the coach at the most storied program in institution football
First, First , you’ve got to be GOOD at football.
Nuff Said. Epic Fail. excellent luck with your life kid.
you have to start from the bottom. somewhat vital- have connections
it’s the same as being a player. start off low, pop warner maybe, then high school, and if you know enough people (terry bowden) you go to institution. and from there it’s all about what kind of skills you have, people skills, football knowledge, and influential nfl connections (question the moras). from there on out your swimming with the sharks, excellent luck!
There are two paths to take. The first is as a player. The second is to work your way up through the coaching ranks.
As a player you would need to show a keen interest in learning the details of football. ALL details! You must expect to learn something new every day. While you are playing question your coaches questions. Why use a certain defense on certain plays? Why not use a player on a certain down? This will not only gain you knowledge but it will also show that you are attracted in the finer details of the game — this could be a sign that you would be a excellent coaching candidate.
The second method is by starting off as a tiny-time coach. NFL coaches have already proven themselves in various areas before they became head NFL coaches. Go to clinics. Attend workshops. Map out a plot for becoming an NFL coach and do your best to stick with it. Try to work with other coaches as much as possible, especially the successful ones.
And don’t be surprised if you have to start off at the high school level.
It will take many years, but if that is what you want then it will be worth the wait!
well 1st off you want to have football expierience
Simplest way is be a excellent player, then you get jobs easily. If not it’s hard, but you’d have to start tiny from high school or something. Then go to a tiny institution as a position coach, make your way to head coach. Then just keep getting hired to larger and biger schools until you’re at a major 1-A school as a corrdinator or head coach. Then you will probably be hired as a corrdinator or position coach and if you’re lucky make it to NFL head coach at the age of 60-65.
Start at a tiny kid’s league. Cheat a lot (but don’t get caught) and win all your games. You’ll be recognized soon.
There’s a fantastic book about Bill Belichick’s rise to becoming the Patriots’ head coach titled “The Education of a Coach” by the late David Halberstam. Belichick played football and lacrosse in high school and institution (Wesleyan).
Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant reportedly told an aspiring coach, “Don’t do it except you can’t live without it.” Belichick’s first coaching job was with the Baltimore Colts making $25/week. That’s how terribly he wanted to coach.
More than the career path, I reflect the burning desire is the most vital factor.
