Life Of A First Time Fantasy Football Owner

but I had always cheered for certain players that I liked, and wished other players would just run into the goal post during games like Terrell Owens. When a friend of mine asked me to join his Fantasy Football League, I figured what the heck all I do on Sunday’s is watch NFL games anyway.A couple of weeks later I received the confirmation email to go online and register my team name and set up my account before the fantasy league draft. Once I set up my account I noticed that you could actually rank the players in order that you wanted on your team. It seemed easy; I went through found players that are usually good playmakers, but after the 50th person there was still another 300+ names to sort through, so I just left it alone. It was now two weeks before the draft and I was paying extra attention to the preseason football games just to make sure players I wanted to draft still looked good going into the regular season. I also paid attention to top rookie prospects especially wide receivers, running backs and quarterbacks. You know if they’re drafted in the first round of the real NFL draft they have a good chance of seeing some playing time if the person ahead of them on the depth chart goes down with an injury. It was now draft day and my research was done, I had finally compiled a list of all the players I wanted to draft. With the second pick in the draft I selected QB Tom Brady from the New England Patriots, I also went on to get running backs Brian Westbrook (Eagles), Ryan Grant (Packers), Cedric Benson (Bengals), Darren Sproles (Chargers), Earnest Graham (Buccaneers) and Leon Washington (Jets). For receivers I picked up Reggie Wayne (Colts), DeSean Jackson (Eagles), Eddie Royal (Broncos), Devin Hester (Bears), and Donnie Avery (Rams). I only drafted one tight end Owen Daniels (Texans), one defense the Patriots, and one kicker David Akers (Eagles). With my last draft pick I selected Jake Delhomme (Panthers) as a backup quarterback since Brady spent all of last year on the sidelines. Going into the season I thought I had a good team I was excited to see how the first week would go. One of the features of the fantasy league that I have learned drives you crazy is the scoring predictions, which I now know not to trust. For my first game it said I was favored to win the game 101-92 and made me feel like even more of a draft whiz. First time playing and it already looked like I was going to win my first game. When the first week of the NFL season started, I found myself watching, but wondering in the back of my head how my players were doing. Then I remembered one of the guys said on Dish Network the NFL Network channel gives you up to date stats on players for the 1pm and 4pm games. So every commercial I was jumping to the channel to see how my players were doing. It kind of felt like I was an actual owner of a team minus all the money and the luxury booth. After the 1 o’clock games I logged into my ESPN fantasy football account just to see what time my other players were on. That’s when I noticed there was a stat tracker already on the website that gives you up to the minute live scoring for your players. When the 1 o’clock games ended I was losing 60 to 35 and it didn’t look good. The predictions now said I would lose 101 to 89. I had 4 players left and the other team had 5, so throughout the 4pm games I was constantly looking at my laptop while watching the games on TV. Needless to say my wife was not too happy. At the end of the day I was up 94 to 84, going into Monday nights game we both had one player left. I was confident I would win, but as I had learned earlier in the day fantasy football scores can change negatively in an instant. When I got home from work on Monday I did my fatherly duties made sure the kids homework was done, helped make dinner, and enjoyed time with family before putting the kids to bed. By the time the game started I already had my laptop open so I could track my player points throughout the game. I went on to win my first game 106 to 89 and felt like a proud owner. That’s all it took, after week one I was hooked and couldn’t wait for the next week to start. Over the next couple of weeks I learned that when a team is on their bye week so is your player, which I was not prepared for (I know I’m an idiot). I went on to lose my next three games before deciding I had to make some trades to improve my team, so I traded QB Jake Delhomme and TE Owen Daniels for TE Chris Cooley (Redskins) and RB Rashard Mendenhall (Steelers). After that I dropped WR Avery and picked up WR Mike-Sims-Walker (Jaguars) off the free agents list. Since the trades I have won two games in a row and stand at 3-3 going into week seven.

Before Your First Hindi Course

When you start your Hindi course, you will undoubtedly learn a lot about the language. This article will give you a little background on the Hindi language. It may help you to know these facts before you start your Hindi course.

Hindi evolved from the Prakrit language. Because it is spoken in a place where there have been many travelers, explorers and colonizers, Hindi has been influenced by several other languages.

Hindi is spoken most in northern India, in the states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Himchai Pradesh, and Jharkhand. It is the secondary language of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Other languages spoken there include Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, and Marathi.

Hindi is written in the Devanagari alphabet, the alphabet in which sacred Sanskrit texts were written in. In fact the prefix “deva-” in the word “Devanagari” means sacred or divine. Marathi and Nepali are also written in the same alphabet.

Hindi is a poetic and expressive language. Although it may seem very unfamiliar to American eyes and ears, a diligent student can learn it. Grammar is not complicated. The language is written phonetically, so once you learn the alphabet, you won’t have trouble sounding out unfamiliar words or spelling words that you hear.

Hindi nouns have gender, but pronouns do not. So, in Hindi, male humans and animals are described by a noun using the masculine gender. Female humans and animals are described by a noun using the feminine gender. And inanimate objects are described by nouns that have either the feminine or the masculine gender, according to the usage that the language has assigned it.

On the other hand, pronouns do not have gender. Now, in English, the third person singular is “he,” “she” or “it.” So a pronoun will indicate the gender of a human or animal. But in Hindi, there is no version of the third person pronoun that would indicate gender. Yet the verb does indicate gender.

In Hindi, the verb is usually at the end, and a common sentence structure is subject – object -verb. Hindi is a weakly inflected language, and the role of a noun in the sentence can be indicated by a postposition — that is, a word that may play the role of a preposition except that it follows, rather than precedes, a noun.

There are no articles, whether definite or indefinite. Adjectives usually precede the noun.

Verbs have aspect as well as tense. Tense indicates whether an action is past, present or future. Aspect indicates whether an action is habitual, progressive or perfective.

So that’s a little bit about Hindi. It’s just a short introduction. You will undoubtedly encounter more as you progress in your Hindi course.

What NFL team holds the record for the most points scored in the first 6 games of a season?

I am wondering what NFL team has the record for the most points scored in the first six games of the season and how many they had. Saints this season have the second most with 238, so i’m wondering who had more than that. Thanks!

NFL Draft – First Round Highlights

The 2009 NFL draft took place last weekend, on April 25 and 26. The first round saw some of the draft’s top players finding a home for the season. Some of the picks were hardly surprising – Michael Stafford going to the Detroit Lions – while others defied expectations – Michael Crabtree was a later-than-anticipated number ten pick.

Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of the first round.

#1 -Quarterback and projected top pick overall Matthew Stafford fulfilled his expectations. The Detroit Lions had already signed the 21-year-old to a six year contract with $41.7 million in guarantees. The Lions had a record-breaking season this year: 0-16, a losing feat no other team has accomplished in NFL history.

With a winless season wrought by Matt Millen, the Lions are looking to Stafford to pick up the franchise. At 6’3” and 237 lbs, and with a strong and accurate throwing arm that has brought 51 career touchdowns and 7,731 career yards, Stafford has the potential to become a franchise savior.  Hopefully the new Lion will do better than Detroit’s last top-pick quarterback, Joey Harrington.

Stafford left school a year early but is not expected to start the season. Nevertheless, he is ready to begin his career as a professional.

“I’m a competitive guy,” Stafford said. “I’m going to try to get ready as quick as I can.”

Stafford continues a trend in the NFL in which quarterbacks constitute top overall picks in the draft; in fact, 9 of the last 12 top picks have been quarterbacks. Time will tell whether Stafford continues to satisfy expectations during football season.

#4- Another potential for the Lions was taken in the top 5. Aaron Curry, a linebacker from Wake Forest, had discussed being the top overall pick with Detroit. Curry has an exceptional combination of height, weight, and speed for a linebacker, which, blended with his strong instincts, aggression, and overall effort, makes him an ideal player. Seattle was able to capture Curry at number 4.

#5 – The second quarterback to be chosen, Mark Sanchez of USC, was snatched by the New York Jets after they traded Cleveland for the 5th overall spot. Sanchez started at USC for just one season, leading the Trojans to a 12-1 season and a Rose Bowl win.

With the Jets, he will have to fill the shoes of retiring quarterback Brett Favre. The 6’3”, 225 lb quarterback has a strong arm, intelligence, and leadership skills that make him a prize for the Jets West Coast Offense. His limited experience makes him a moderate risk, but he is undaunted.

“It’s a very exciting time, a special time in my life,” Sanchez explains, “so I’m excited to get things going.”

#7- Captivated by his speed, the Oakland Raiders snagged Maryland’s Darrius Heyward-Bey  at number 7 overall.  Although Heyward-Bey had the fastest 40-yard time in workouts, his undeveloped receiving skills make him something of a risk. Though he may take time to develop, with his incredible speed and height-weight combination, Heyward-Bey exhibits real potential.

#10- Michael Crabtree, who was the highest-rated receiver before the draft, completed the top ten when he was chosen by the 49ers. He lost the top ranking to Heyward-Bey, who was selected three spots before him. Although Crabtree lacks top-notch speed, he is still considered one of the best receivers in the draft, with an ability to catch almost anything thrown at him.

After only two seasons of football, Crabtree received the Biletnikoff Award. Now, in San Francisco, Crabtree aims high: “I got some big shoes to fill when I go to the 49ers, you know, with Jerry Rice. I am looking forward to that. I love challenges.”

#12- Knowshon Moreno went number 12 to the Denver Broncos. Moreno rushed 1,400 yards last season to lead the SEC and was in the second-team for the All-American players. Although Moreno lacks the breakaway speed possessed by topnotch backs in the NFL, he has great instincts and good vision that make him an excellent top pick for the Broncos.

#19- The Eagles were able to choose receiver Jerry Maclin from Missouri at number 19 after the Browns traded the pick for number 21 and a second 6th round pick. In 2008, Maclin was able to score 12 touchdowns, along with 1,260 receiving yards.

#27- The Indianapolis Colts selected Dan Brown at number 27. Brown was the 2008 Big East offensive player of the year at Connecticut, and, with over 2000 rushing yards last year alone and 3,800 career rushing yards, leads the NCAA.  He also holds the distinction of being the University of Connecticut’s first player to be drafted in the first round.

Overall, the first round saw 19 offensive and 13 defensive players drafted – 15 of whom were underclassmen – for a grand total of 32 players.
